A Relief for Body and Mind

A breast reduction (mammal reduction) is not simply a question of aesthetics. Depending on a woman’s figure, breasts surpassing a certain size may represent a real encumbrance. The sheer weight of hypertrophic breasts (called macromastia; the condition of suffering from extremely large breasts is also called gigantomastia) can lead to pain in the shoulders and the back, even resulting in postural deformities in the long run.

Add to this the psychological burden – macromastia will inevitably attract uncalled-for looks, and even everyday tasks like choosing fitting clothes will turn into a problem.

In extreme cases, body movement is restricted so that athletic activities are practically impossible, which in turn contributes to obesity and thus the growth of fat cells in the breasts – a vicious circle; which however may be broken by means of breast reduction.

Interesting information about breast reduction

Breast reducing surgery may make sense even at a younger age, if a severe gigantomastia is at hand, though it must be assured that breast growth is complete. Women who want to have babies and whose breasts are not all that heavy might consider waiting with surgery, since their breasts may still change due to breast feeding. Women 35 or older should have a mammography made before surgery.
