Treating together what belongs together

The inner labia and the tissue around the clitoris are basically one entity. That’s why we at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery are convinced that the best results in labia reduction go along with a tightening of the skin surrounding the clitoris, i.e. the upward continuation of the labia. By means of this clitoral tightening, we may achieve an optimal result that is convincing in every respect.

FAQ on Clitoral Tightening

Who may benefit from a clitoral tightening?

The clitoral tightening is recommendable for patients who are interested in a labia reduction. Even patients who have already had a labia reduction can have the result perfected by means of a clitoral tightening at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Since the labia and the clitoris constitute an entity in the female intimate anatomy, it makes sense to treat them both together in order to make a comprehensively satisfying result possible.

How do we conduct a clitoral tightening?

Ath the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we conduct the clitoral tightening if needed in combination with a labia reduction. The operation is performed under general anaesthesia.

The labia and the tissue around the clitoris have a strong blood circulation by nature and carry a wealth of nerves; so in order to enable particularly gentle incisions with little haemorrhaging, we at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery use special surgical instruments bespoke for clitoral tightening. Our state-of-the-art operation techniques enable us to remove excess tissue around the clitoris without impairing its function. The sutures will be positioned along the side in the fold between the small and large labia which makes them very discreet. Since we use self-dissolving sutures, there is no need for stitch removal in this so sensitive region, and the tissue can heal smoothly on its own.

What is important following a clitoral tightening?

Due to the pronounced blood circulation in this body zone, the natural healing process is very fast so that patients need not expect any longer-term impairment. In order to prevent swelling and bleeding, the entire intimate area will be cooled with compressions directly after the operation. In the following hours, cooling should continue and patients should rest as much as they can. During the first night after the clitoral tightening, expect a burning sensation and light pain. Swellings and haematomas will in most cases disappear on their own after a few days.

Already at the second day after the clitoral tightening, you can a take a shower again. The intimate region should be washed very carefully and gently with only lukewarm water. In general, during this post-operative time, you should make sure to use only pH-neutral body wash. Over the course of the next six weeks, the sutures will dissolve by themselves so that no stitch removal will be necessary.

During the first six weeks, patients should refrain from having any sex since the sutures do not yet provide enough stability to withstand strong mechanical strain. That’s also the reason why alongside sexual activity, no sports, like riding, bicycling, or jogging, is allowed. You should avoid going to the sauna for eight weeks after a clitoral tightening. Alcohol and nicotine are also detrimental to the healing process. During the wound healing, there may be a temporary itch along the sutures. Sexual somatosensory disorders of the clitoris are unlikely since the latter’s nerves don’t run inside the epidermis but rather in deeper layers above the pubic bone.

We will be happy to discuss the possibilities of a clitoral tightening during a comprehensive personal consultation at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Please feel free to contact us about this.
