For harmonious proportions
The pubic mound (also called mons pubis or mons veneris) consists of subcutaneous fatty tissue. As a cushion for the pubic bone, it fulfils an important physical function. But due to hormonal changes, the fat depots located here can grow, so that the mons pubis becomes unduly obtrusive, especially underneath tight clothing or when going swimming. A pubic reduction (monsplasty) performed at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery can correct individually perceived blemishes and give a new feeling of well-being inside one’s own body.
Unfortunately, this body region cannot be changed to any great extent by means of dieting, activity, sports or training; even massages will not reduce this bothersome fatty tissue. A pubic reduction (monsplasty) at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery can give new self-confidence to patients who feel impaired in their physical well-being by their intimate anatomy. A reduction of the pubic mound can be brought about by removing the surplus fatty tissue, so that our patients will then be able to take all liberties in their everyday life without inhibitions.

FAQ on Pubic Reduction (Monsplasty)
Who may benefit from a pubic reduction?
When the pubic mound is particularly prominent due to fat depots in the subcutaneous tissue, many women feel troubled: especially when wearing tight clothes, other people’s looks are drawn towards the intimate zone in a way that’s too much for comfort. A harmonious silhouette may be achieved by means of a liposuction at the pubic mound. A pubic reduction can be performed at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery even on an outpatient basis.
How do we conduct a pubic reduction?
It is our particular desire that our patients feel good and well cared for by us. Before the treatment, we will conduct a personal consultation in a confidential atmosphere. There, you will be able to ask all questions and discuss all issues and concerns you may have with the treating doctor.
During the pubic reduction, the region will first be anaesthetised locally. The pubic reduction will take about one hour. The local anaesthetic is injected together with a solution which facilitates the fat cell removal. Through a tiny incision, a hollow needle (cannula) will then be inserted and the fat will be extracted until the desired shape of the pubic mound is achieved. In some cases, it may be recommendable to do a slight tightening of the treated area in the intimate zone directly afterwards.
What is important following a pubic reduction?
In order to support a particularly even wound healing of the inner wound surfaces, you will have to wear a special girdle for two to three weeks after the pubic reduction. Patients will receive this directly after the operation from us. After the liposuction, the skin may temporarily feel a bit numb. Also, patients often tell us about a feeling like sore muscles; any stronger pain is rare.
We at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery use self-dissolving sutures for the stitches (which are very small anyway), so that they will have dissolved by themselves after about three weeks. Already two days after the operation, you may take a shower; but please be sure to use only lukewarm water for the first week, together with a pH-neutral body wash. Starting on day four, sitting baths with camomile support the wound healing process after the pubic reduction – full baths are only allowed after two weeks.
You should refrain from having sex for several weeks. Sports and exercise should not be started again any earlier than four weeks after the operation, and you start only very gently at first. You should not consume any alcohol or nicotine, if possible, since these substances also have a negative impact on the healing process. We’ll be happy to provide more information about our treatments in a personal consultation. Please feel free to contact the team of Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery about this.
