Wrinkle Treatment Using Polylactic Acid (Liquid Lift) | Nürnberger Klinik

The Discreet Way to Smoother Skin

Often, people considering a wrinkle treatment don’t want to achieve a change in appearance that’s immediately visible. A survey conducted by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery shows that three out of four women prefer a discreet effect, building up slowly over time and providing longer-lasting results.

This wish may indeed come true when performing a wrinkle treatment with polylactic acid as the active ingredient, a substance naturally occurring in the human body.

Interesting information about polylactic acid (Liquid Lift)

This lactic acid polymer is like a gel, i.e. it contains water, and is injected into the skin to a deeper dermal layer than other fillers are. There, it first of all bolsters up the wrinkle with water. This filling effect will wear off over the coming days, since the water gets absorbed by the body. In a second phase, however, the lactic acid crystals stimulate the formation of the body’s own collagen in their immediate environment. This collagen build-up will increase over the course of some 8 to 12 weeks, so that the wrinkles or insufficient dermal volume get evened out more and more. In order to achieve an optimum result, several treatment sessions at 2–3 month intervals may be performed. After that, the effect will last up to two years and can be refreshed at that point if necessary.
