Great Hair for a Youthful Impression

Premature hair loss has genetic causes and may affect men and women. This androgenic alopecia (or androgenetic alopecia, also called male pattern baldness) means that the roots of the hair (the hair follicles) react overly sensitive to the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that’s also present in women. In such cases, the growth phase of each hair is shortened to such a degree that the follicles will atrophy over time and thus lose their ability to produce strong hair.

Interesting information about the hair transplant

Fortunately, the hair follicles located in the so-called chaplet, i.e. the semi-circle of hair around the back of the head and above the ears, are immune to DHT. The hair follicles from these regions will not lose their resilience even when grafted onto the balding or bald areas on the top of the head.

We put this to good use by spreading follicles to bald patches using micro-surgery. Once the follicles have become used to their new environment (after approx. 3 months), new hair will start to grow there.

Important note: The total number of donor hair with lifelong growing power is limited; that’s why they should be moved with care. We always have a safety plan for potential follow-up treatments, just in case the hair loss progresses any further.

We’d like to discuss any potential risks as well as the hair transplant treatment procedure in your individual case, explaining all details and answering your questions, in a personal consulting session. Please contact us for further information.
